5 Ways To Boost Your Immune System

[ad_1]

Your immune system works to fight off illness and keep you healthy. Over the past few years, I’ve been on a journey to learn more about my own body and how it works best.

I always feel better when I’m doing the five things below. And if I feel under the weather at all? I double up on my fruits and veggies and reach for extra immune and wellness shots. Doing those things while being outside, getting more sleep, and prioritizing rest help me recover more quickly!

5 Ways To Boost Your Immune System

1. Eat immune boosting foods regularly.

There are foods that work with your immune system and foods that work against it making it harder for it to do its job. Generally speaking things like whole foods, fruits, vegetables, whole grains, nuts, and seeds are the immune-boosting powerhouses we should be consuming.

Foods like citrus fruits, garlic, broccoli, ginger, spinach, yogurt, almond, sunflower seeds, turmeric, and papaya work to strengthen your immune system helping it fight off illness better and more quickly.

I love that Splendid Spoon offers a variety of soups, grain bowls, and noodle bowls that are jam-packed with these powerhouse ingredients. And not only that, their plant-based meals are SO delicious. I look forward to them everyday.

2. Avoid added sugar.

Like I mentioned before, there are foods that make it harder for your immune system to work properly. One of those is added sugar. It impacts the body negatively in many ways and makes it harder for your body to fight off invaders (aka germs).

When I’m feeling under the weather at all, I avoid eating any processed or added sugar. Added sugar in particular impacts your gut health. Your gut is basically a window to your body and a lot of what we put in our bodies from what we eat can wreak havoc all over. From causing things like acne to brain fog to joint pain, the food we consume (especially sugar) makes a big difference.

Splendid Spoon offers 18 low sugar smoothies that are the perfect start to the day.

They also offer delicious juices that are a great way to start the day!

3. Spend time in nature.

Nature is not only relaxing but also helps relieve stress. Being outside also helps get you Vitamin D which is an essential vitamin that’s best gotten from the sun.

Even a 20 minute walk outside is good for your heart, mind, and overall wellbeing.

I love to get outside for at least a little bit everyday. I’m really looking forward to the days warming up. A walk after dinner can help aid in digestion, better sleep, and keeping your blood sugar at a normal level.

If you can, trying working outside for a little bit each day. You don’t always have to be stuck in front of a computer or your work.

Spending time in nature can also help you concentrate better, be more active, and improve your mood.

There’s really no downsides in my opinion, so try to get outside as much as possible!

4. Immune shots from Splendid Spoon.

I love the shots from Splendid Spoon (Immune and Detox are my favorite). The Immune Shot is made with orange, blackberry, lemon, elderberries, camu camu, and cayenne.

These ingredients are packed with vitamin C and antioxidants. Antioxidants help protect your body from free radicals. Free radicals are unstable atoms that are linked to a host of diseases and problems like illness, cardiovascular issues, and aging.

These shots are a quick way to get in these immune-boosting necessities. I like having mine in the morning after a smoothie or a juice.

5. Get enough sleep.

I think sleep is one of the most underrated things in our lives today. Sleep is truly essential to our health. You can be doing all the right other things, but if you’re not resting, your body doesn’t have time to recover!

There’s a reason we feel more tired when we’re under the weather. Our bodies are craving the rest we need!

I try to get 8 hours of sleep every night. That is truly the sweet spot for me. You might be different! Sleep enough that you feel rested and not groggy.

Trying Splendid Spoon

Splendid Spoon is a great option for getting those nutrient-dense fruits, veggies, and ingredients into your diet. As a busy mom of two and business owner, planning my meals can sometimes be the last thing I want to think about.

Having Splendid Spoon on hand truly makes life so much easier.

The company was founded by Nicole Centeno who started Splendid Spoon in order to give others access to plant-based meals that are made from whole foods. They recognize that most people are very busy and oftentimes that means our health goals fall to the wayside. To make it easy, they’ve built out a plan that helps you reconnect with your body and appetite in a wholesome way.

I suggest starting with the Breakfast and Lunch plan and adding on some of the shots to try. They have 50+ meals to choose from and I definitely think there’s something for everyone!
